  • "Terry Gaasterland has worked tirelessly to protect our bluffs and beaches, relocate the railroad tracks, and advance creative solutions to our affordable housing crisis, and I am proud to endorse her for Del Mar City Council."

  • "Terry continues to stand up for us against onerous State mandates and legislative overreach.
  • Terry will protect our North Bluff and Lagoon from high-density development and fight to keep low-density zoning on North Bluff and South Bluff.
  • No fencing on Del Mar's Coastal Bluff Trails."

  • "Terry has worked relentlessly, hand in hand with so many bluff-top neighbors, to fight unnecessary fencing that poses new dangers to the Upper Bluff.
  • She successfully fought for dollars needed to remove the railroad track from the Bluff, AND to fund a new track crossing on the Bluff."

John Weare, Former Mayor

  • "During her term on the City Council, Terry Gaasterland has been an important, creative, and persistent leader in Del Mar’s resistance to increasing pressures to diminish our unique Del Mar lifestyle.
  • She (with others) led in the City's successful efforts to defeat the potentially disastrous Marisol Land Use Initiative (in 2020) and now leads in the City's continuing efforts to decrease the impact of state mandated increased development (state mandated housing density increases).
  • Terry was key to the organization of Del Mar resident’s resistance to the destruction of our majestic beach bluffs and loss of beach access (train off bluff effort) proposed by the North County Transit District (railroad track operator).
  • Terry is creative, a good community organizer. and quick to identify paths to maximize Del Mar’s interests. She works effectively and tirelessly with community groups and agencies beyond Del Mar on our behalf. These pressures will not go away!
  • Del Mar needs Terry, and Terry needs and richly deserves your vote."

  •  "Terry is fully committed to defending our beach community against the Coastal Commission’s push to plan for managed retreat while concurrently working with the Coastal Commission to fight outrageous fencing on our Upper Bluff and to fund legal railroad crossings near 7th or 11th Street.
  • Most importantly, she will pursue Del Mar’s economic viability by ensuring that our village business district thrives with improved parking, outdoor dining, and new businesses over the next four years – on top of the 20+ businesses that opened during COVID.
  • With Terry’s energy and experience, Del Mar will be well served during the next four years"

  •  "We can count on Terry to protect our private property from unreasonable legislation regarding sea level rise with No Managed Retreat.
  • For four years as Chair of the Sea Level Rise Technical Advisory Committee and  four years now on the City Council, Terry stood with a majority of the residents from the beginning at a time when most of the City Council did not.
  • What has Terry done for the Beach, Bluffs, and Lagoon in Del Mar?
    *   Fought managed retreat as Sea Level Rise Chair and on Council.
    *   Negotiated fearlessly and spearheaded withdrawal of LCPA from the Coastal Commission.
    *   Protected the Lagoon from high-density residential development in North Commercial zone.
    *   Fought the railroad fence
    *   Opposed Marisol and high-density development on North Bluff.
    *   Initiated affordable housing at Fairgrounds.
    *   Reduced excess unsightly signage in Downtown.
    *   Modernized restaurant parking requirements to support a vibrant, walkable downtown."

  • "My priorities align with Terry's priorities, and I have admired her dedication and diligence through the coastal bluffs issues.
  • Leadership can be thankless at times, and she has persevered."

  •  "As a next-generation Del Martian, I want to see Del Mar's neighborhoods and natural resources – Bluffs, Beaches, Canyon, and Lagoon – protected into the future from over-development and outside influence.
  • I know that Terry will act in Del Mar's best interests while improving our community."

  • "Under Terry’s leadership, Del Mar succeeded in removing more than 1000 linear feet of overhead wires from streets that cut straight through Del Mar in a high risk wildfire area, up 10th St to Tewa to Klish.
  • Lessons learned from this pilot project will make the next 18,850 linear feet of wires in Crest Canyon and along Stratford Court go much more smoothly."

  • "Terry is the hardest working and most effective Council Member Del Mar has ever had!
  • She is the only Council Member who has taken the initiative to dig into the issues and deal with the principals to solve the problem.
  • Terry Gaasterland is a key member of our City Council and we must ensure that she is re-elected.
  • She has my full support.  Please join me and vote for Terry."

  • "Terry has consistently been open to our concerns, as Del Mar residents.
  • She always returns our emails on environmental concerns, regarding fencing of our bluff and its degradation.
  • Terry’s an astute listener and has our backs when it comes to community in Del Mar.
  • We endorse Terry Gaasterland for City Council election."
