Key City Council ACCOMPLISHMENTS 2018-2022
Our Council has accomplished a great deal in the past 4 years.
- Stopped railroad fencing on Del Mar’s Upper Bluff coastal trail
- Established financial viability for affordable housing at the Fairgrounds
- Launched utility under-grounding pilot project to remove 10 poles and over 1,000 linear feet. Crest Canyon / Stratford Court designs underway
- Defended our adopted Sea Level Rise Plan without managed retreat
- During COVID, more than 20 new businesses opened downtown – restaurants shifted to outdoor dining
- Gained State approval for initial $300 million to relocate the railroad tracks
- Received $3.5 million from the County to replace Camino Del Mar Bridge over San Dieguito Lagoon
- Minimized SANDAG’s Bluff Stabilization project to stop decapitation of the Bluff
- Ensured SANDAG funding for new legal railroad crossing and safe passage to the beach
- Through EDCO, our new trash collector, implemented local organic waste composting to capture methane gas and keep it out of landfills
- Created wildfire evacuation plan for Crest Canyon neighborhoods
